Μιά ιδιαίτερης σημασίας εκδήλωση υψηλού επιπέδου πραγματοποιείται, σήμερα στο πλαίσιο των εργασιών της Γενικής Συνέλευσης του ΟΗΕ, που άρχισαν, χθες, στη Νέα Υόρκη. Η εκδήλωση με θέμα: «Οι γυναίκες στις συγκρούσεις» συνδιοργανώνεται από την ΕΕ και τον ΟΗΕ σε συνεργασία με τον οργανισμό του ΟΗΕ για τις Γυναίκες και το Ίδρυμα Δρ Denis Mukwege.
Ο Πρόεδρος του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου Charles Michel, ο οποίος συμμετέχει στη Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών και θα μιλήσει παρουσιάζοντας τις προτεραιότητες της ΕΕ στη ΓΣ (οι προτεραιότητες της ΕΕ στη ΓΣ, δημοσιεύτηκαn,χτες σε αυτό το Blog) είναι και ο οικοδεσπότης της εκδήλωσης στην Αντιπροσωπεία της ΕΕ στα Ηνωμένα Έθνη. Η εκδήλωση υψηλού επιπέδου μεταδίδεται ζωντανά στους διαύλους του Συμβουλίου.

‘Women in Conflicts’: watch live, 21 September, 22.00 CET
Women bear the brunt of violent conflict. And though they are key to durable conflict prevention and resolution, they are largely excluded from matters of peace and security. To bring the voices of women in conflicts to the fore during the UN General Assembly week, President Charles Michel will co-host a high-level event featuring Nobel Prize winners, activists and world leaders.
The event, which will be held on the International Day for Peace, is co-hosted by the European Union, UN Women and the Dr. Denis Mukwege Foundation. It will take place live from New York.
Follow the event live to listen to the testimonies of activists and world leaders about the positive role of women in conflict resolution and prevention.

The event will reaffirm world leaders’ commitment to the protection of women and girls in conflict and to their full, equal and meaningful participation.
